fashion, design and art fair

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of visiting the 5th edition of Gdańsk's fashion, design and young art fair hosted at the Baltic Opera.

Bakalie is a showcase for original, handmade design, fashion, art and craft from young Polish designers. It's on twice a year, and this winter's edition was full of brilliant finds.

Jewellery and accessories were in abundance by designers such as Anna Ławska (5), Makabresque (3), Monkey Handmade (6), Monika Sadowska (11,14) and Ola Świtalska (10,12). Fabulous winter hats and cowl scarves were offered by Dudzinska (1,2) and glamorous, retro fascinators and headpieces by Misstery (13).

You could also buy hand-printed stencil art t-shirts and canvas bags from Adam Zajchowski (9). Arbuz Dizajn had some lovely paper Christmas decorations and handmade photo albums (7,8) and if you prefer something cuddly then the cute, soft creatures from Bambaks (4) are just the thing.

Most of the exhibitors I spoke to were from the Tricity area, so supporting local design is another great reason to visit the next Bakalie event, which will most likely be held in summer 2012. Look out for announcements on their FB page. See you there!
